The Nottinghamshire Union of Golf Clubs offers some great competitions for boys and girls throughout the golf season. Unless otherwise indicated you have to have been under 18 years of age on the 1st January 2017 to qualify to enter these competitions. A short description of these competitions is listed below:
Cyril Selleck Memorial Trophy – Sunday 14th May at Oakmere Golf Club. A medal competition for boys and girls with handicap and scratch trophies and prizes.
Wardman and Carr Trophies – Sunday 11th June at Radcliffe on Trent Golf Club. A four ball better ball 18 hole strokeplay competition with scratch and handicap trophies and prizes. This competition is open to boys and girls who were under 21 on 1st January 2017
The Bill and Di Lamplugh Memorial Team Stableford Trophy – Sunday 16th July at Notts Golf Club. The competition is open to a maximum of 3 club teams from each individual club. Each team is of three players with all three Stableford scores to count to determine the winner. Teams can be made up of 3 boys or 3 girls or mixed. The winning team will qualify to compete in the England Golf Junior Champion Club Tournament on a date to be determined.
County Boys Amateur Championship – Monday 4th August at Worksop Golf Club. The competition is a 36 Hole Scratch Competition for Handicaps of 9 or less. The leading 16 competitors returning the lowest aggregate scratch score over the 36 holes will qualify to compete in the Nottinghamshire Boys Amateur Matchplay Championship. This will be played on Monday 14 and Wednesday 16 August 2017 at Newark Golf Club.
There is also an 18 Hole Medal competition for Handicaps of 10 to 28.
Henderson and Carlisle Trophies – Sunday 10 September at Wollaton Park Golf Club. This is an 18 hole medal scratch and handicap competition open to boys and girls under the age of 21 years on the 1st January 2017. There are handicap and scratch trophies for the winners and also for the best scores by a player aged under 16.
Edwalton Imp: Saturday 1st October at Edwalton Golf Club. The competition is a team event for boys and girls played over the par 3 course of the Edwalton Golf Club. Four players will compete in each team. Each team will be captained by a County junior player who will lead three other junior players including, wherever possible, one ‘novice’ player who will have to have an official handicap to take part . No maximum handicap to (boys) and (girls) including “novices”. Teams will be determined according to a random draw which will be made immediately after the closing date for entries.
